Roadtrip across my mind

"Roadtrip across my mind" is Ferry's personal story of living with ADHD — not as a medical reference book, but as a journey through his own head. The book is structured as a road trip in four parts, each with its own 'odometer reading' marking the progress of the journey.

In Part I, 'The Road Begins', Ferry returns to his childhood: the boy who was different without knowing why, who dreamed and drifted off, and who would only much later discover what lay behind that feeling.

Part II, 'Under the Hood', dives into how his brain works. With vivid metaphors — such as the Ferrari with bicycle brakes and 8D audio — he makes tangible what overstimulation, hyperfocus and a head that never stands still mean for him.

Part III, 'The People Along My Route', is about the people who shaped and supported him: his parents, his wife, his daughter, friends and care professionals — nobody makes a journey like this alone.

Part IV, 'Beyond the Horizon', looks ahead: to motorcycling, music, helping others and the dreams that are still waiting. The most beautiful discovery of the journey wasn't the diagnosis itself, but that Ferry finally began to understand himself.

The book closes with an epilogue in which he looks back on how the writing process changed him, followed by acknowledgements to the people around him and a closing poem — with the message that this road trip doesn't end at the last page, but simply carries on.
